Feed-water quality requirements:

• The total dissolved solids (TDS) should be between 50 and 250 parts per million (ppm).
• The water hardness should be between 50 and 200 ppm (3 to 12 grains per gallon).
• The pH level should be between 7.0 and 8.5.
• The chloride content should be less than or equal to 50 ppm.
• The free chlorine content should be less than or equal to 0.1 ppm.
• The silica content should be less than or equal to 13 ppm.
• The mono-chloramine content should be less than or equal to 0.1 ppm.
• The total alkalinity should be between 50 and 100 ppm.
